Our latest newsletter is packed with timely updates and opportunities. 

Sadly this month we share news of the passing of our trustee and friend David Blunt, who passed away in May at Kirkwood Hospice.  We have all felt his loss deeply, and I know many of us will be reflecting on the contribution David made not only to Yorkshire Cancer Community, but also to many people and organisations across our wider community.  

Also in this month’s edition, we share Christine’s story of how she and her husband found support and comfort at Maggie’s in Leeds following her breast cancer diagnosis.  There’s also details of how Calderdale Cancer Aware have been working in partnership with West Yorkshire Police – Calderdale District to raise cancer awareness and train new cancer champions.

We share our user friendly guide on the National Cancer Plan, England, helpfully created by our trustee Stephen – full details can be found on our website here.

You will discover details of how to stay safe in the sun (very timely given the extremely hot weather we have been enjoying lately), and also details of how AI is helping to detect skin cancer.  We also share information about a new mobile cervical screening service in Kirklees, and details of how the NHS have teamed up with Morrisons supermarket to raise cancer awareness by promoting the “Know Your Normal” message on bath and shower products,
